Default b16 a few questions i need answered.

99em1.... i had a few q's. im not interested in building an all motor monster by any means but i wanted to squeeze a few extra hp's out of this motor. bear in mind this is my daily driver as well.

i'm particularly interested in getting cams and have searched around for some ideas..but i wanted to know if cams are safe to run on stock valvetrain and stock pistons?

my thought was to get sk2 stage 1 cams, but im not sure i want to spend the $ on them. i notice the CTR cams are basically 1/2 the cost. now correct me if im wrong, but upgrading the intake cam is what produces the power? if im not mistaken, i read another post that someone had only the intake cam and it made a difference...this correct? if i were to get a CTR intake cam and left the exhaust cam stock, would that potentially get me the extra little bit of power im looking for? no plans for any major tuning by any means. in fact id like it all to run on the stock ecu..unless someone tells me otherwise. any other internal mods needed when swapping cams..or is it a basic swap in and out??

im also in need of a header... jdm 4-1 a good choice and is it carb legal? does the 2.5" diameter make that much of a diff vs. DC 4-1 one piece?

im appreciate your thoughts and responses

cams are made in conjunction to work together both intake and exhaust. so you might gain some with just the intake cam but not as much with both. if you want the full potentional out of the ctr cams, upgrade the valvetrain to ctr or better, and get it tuned. tuning is a must because the stock ecu is set for stock b16 cams, ctr cams have totally different profiles and running the stock ecu will make it run lean. the jdm 4-1 is a great buy IMO. and yes 2.5" is better ~ bigger is better ya know.
