Default my new car.... well new to me at least

i just got an 88 civic hatchback dx, automatic. and i was wondering what would be the best parts to buy for my car. i dont care bout top speed that much but i do care bout acceleration. any recommendations would be greatly appreciated and i am an idiot when it comes to cars so just pretend you are talkin to a 5 year old

dual point fuel injection to multipoint fuel injection conversion.
swap in a b16 dohc vtec engine.
and most importantly if you know how to drive manual transmission change that over to manual also.

First of all, get a helm's manual (http://www.helminc.com).

1) DPFI > MPFI conversion (search plenty of topics on it)

2) I suggest doing an engine swap to a D16Z6 or D16A6 (Si model of the civic)

3) If you have money, you can go B series. Any engine will have its pro/cons..Look at James West SOHC VTEC crx running one of the fastest records in the nation.

4) I suggest swapping ur auto to a manual (or at least get a chipped ECU to change your points of shifting)

Good luck to you.

I think any Civic with manual has pretty neat acceleration. Counting 1.3 16v out.

I think common D16A6 would accelerate nicely enough, if you're not wanting any bigger. Nice Dohc engine would have very nice acceleration.

i heard that 1/6 of the cars imported into the USA are manual. rest, automatic.....that sickens me.
you should get a manual conversion and be different than the other buisness peoples , and for acceleration, go with a b16.
