Timing belt wrong on purpose???
Tonight i was adjusting some rockers on a gsr engine and i relized that the valve timing was off. the car ran powerful but loped and didnt like to idle. The vtec was strong. So thinking the timing was off i reset it to normal setting put it together and it wouldnt start. for some reason i think the people who built the motor made it this way on purpose??? it looked like it was 2 teeth off. after relizing that they had to change the firing order in order for it to run i switch it back to stock and it started right up.However the vtec doesnt come in as hard. Why would you do this to an engine?? the firing order was 1243 and is now 1342. what gives??
i have no idea what u just said but the firing order for ANY inline four cyclinder engine is 1342. they do this to reduce motor vibrations.
is your cylinder head shaved?
dont forget after to shave the head a great ammount the stock timming
is shot so you have to do the timming off the distributor....
then about the order the 1342 is correct.....

nope no over heating. runs smoother but doesnt like to start at all. idles at 300rpm till it gets hot then it idles fine. I think what happened is that maybe they timed it wrong at the crank then to make up for there mistake had to change the firing order in order for it to run. sounds logical to me.lucky the valves arent bent i guess.
