UH OH! Where'd My Keyholes Go!
Yep, the pictures below are real. No key holes. How you may ask? The back door handles off a 4-door GSR. They fit perfectly, and it was only $40 to get them both painted.
The purpose? I've seen many key holes jammed in by thiefs using screw drivers, etc. So I figured just elimnate the key holes and no problem.
I didn't want to shave the handles simply because it looks ricey to me, and plus then you have to install an actuator (sp?) to open the doors, etc, etc. It's bullpoo poo. This is much easier and I think looks better.
The install was pretty painless. The only hard part was removing the bars that link the actual key hole and the locking mechanism in the door. You have to twist the bar around until it slides out of the hole it is in. If you don't do this the locks will not function properly (sometimes won't open, etc).
Anyways, enjoy!

i was thinking of something like that. the only thing is you still have a key hole in the hatch.
also what happens when your batteyr dies in your remote to unlock the doors?
these were just questions i had when i thought about it.
looks nice though. how much were the handles themselves? if i may ask

nice job. i did the exact same thing on my 98r. it does suck though when your remote battery dies. it happened to me once... after that.. i change it every year. you should shave your rear hatch keyhole too... i did that also when i shaved the emblems... looks much cleaner IMO. the trunk keyhole is worthless (if you have remote lock/unlock) since we have the latch in all 98+ Integs.i'll post pics if you wanna check it out.
I did the same thing on my 98GS after it was broken into by someone jamming a screwdriver in it.
If the battery dies on the remote the keyhole on the hatch unlocks the front doors. Then you just use the valet switch to disable the alarm. I was thinking of doing this to my R. Just havent gotten around to it yet.
Looks good!

You climb your dumbass through the hatch.
Looks good!
Wow, I was just talking with my friends about doing this tonight. Just curious, where can you get the handles? At a junkyard or is there a part # I can get to order the handles? Looks really nice and clean.
some part numbers would be sweet that looks real nice
to the guy who got the hatch keyhole removed...how much did you pay for the all the work and the shaving of the emblems

I just called up http://www.importautosalvage.com and asked the for the rear door handles off a 4-door GSR. Cost me $20 + $5 for shipping I believe.
The painting cost me $40 for both handles. They used my fuel door to match the paint perfectly.
I did the install myself which was a bit of a pain. The hardest part is removing the bar that connects to the old door handle key mechanisms. If you don't remove this bar it gets in the way and while not allow the system to function properly.
Other than that installw as easy.
P.S. Oh yeah, and the chicks dig it

NIce for the looks, but it won't really help your car from thefts that much, Since they can always use slimjim to unlock your door. Try AAA, they can unlock your Integras/Civics for less the 5min w/ slimjim.

And regardless, I have an alarm so using a slim jim will set the alarm off.
Chris - do you still have the manual lock/unlock mechanism inside the door? (not the chromed lock/unlock switch, but the black piece by the inside door handle...) If you got rid of that too, then you're safe... kinda. If you still have it, then it's a different story.
Nope, still got that, so I guess I am not safe from slim jim. Oh well, I like the look.
One of my motivations to do this was seeing my roommates car with a screw driver stuck in the key hole from thiefs.
