Default Civic B18C problem after water puddle

hey all,

GF was driving her EG, with a B18C... she hit a water puddle, car stalled - and straight away started running like on 3 cylinders. and yes she does have a Pod filter... but I doubt she would have sucked in sooo much water...

Its now been 3 days since the event, I checked the dissy, the plugs, ignition wires... and can't find the problem and eliminate it.
I did a plug running test (remove each lead when engine running and listen for change) - and came to a conclusion the 4th cylinder wasn't firing. I checked for the spark and there is spark... so i concluded injector is wet?

has anyone had this problem before? can they comment?

thanks

Mike

try taking the plug out of that cylinder and changing it with one of the other cylinders that you know is firing and see if it fires. I highly doubt that the injector would go bad because of a water puddle. Water isn't going to hurt it unless it's been wet OUT of the car and set for a while, then it might rust. If you don't get any results by swapping plugs, try doing a compression test on the cylinder... if she did suck up water, it may have done the worst which is breaking or bending the rod.

Can water seriously bend the rod? hows that?

i checked the plug by placing it on top of the motor and cranking the engine... its got spark...

to be honest Id have nver thought a motor could run like that 3rd day in a row after just a puddle... even my old Golfs engine used to get WASHED with water for like 10mins - and it started and ran fine... its just weird hey...

Water isn't compressible. When you suck it into your engine and the piston tries to compress it, something has to give, usually thats a rod.

But is it a nice, blue spark?

Do a compression test man. You'll probably find your answer there. Good luck!
