Default Fuel Gauge Not Working *searched*

Today I was installing a capacitor for my system and the power wire came loose right next to the battery. It sparked right behing the battery and right after that I took it for a drive and the fuel gauge doesn't work. Is it possible the I sparked to the sending unit? It seems like there shouldn't be wiring for it that far up. I took it for a drive and everything runs great. It idles perfect and everything is good there. All of the other gauges including the temperature gauge also work good. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
