I have a 91 crx it has a si tranny and si hubs with si axles i went and aligned my car to day a the axle was like half way out so i drive home and try to pop it in but it wont go so i went to auto zone and took the axle and they were the same i am lost?
Make sure that the snap ring is on the end of the axle, and make sure that you get it seated all the way when putting it into the tranny. If you can pull it out with your hands then its not seated, once its seated you wont be able to pull it out.

What I did during my axle install was to place the axle as far in as I could into the transmission, then placed it into the hub. Then I took my favorite rubber mallet and politely smacked it into place after making sure the axle was as straight as possible.

i have already hit the axle with a mallet and nothing
how many splinds should a si axle have vs an si tranny?

which end is not going in??
put the tranny side in first. make sure it is in buy pulling on it. if you can pull it out you don't have it in right.
put the hub side in. make sure the splines are aligned correctly. then give it a few hits with a mallet, put the axle nut on and then hook up all of your suspension that you disasembled and tighten that axle nut tite.

Your tranny has to be an 88-91 Si tranny, as does your axels. 89-91 was 26 spline. Whereas the 88 was only 23

the axle is off a 91 civic si and the tranny is off a 90 crx si
I have a hard time getting my passenger's side axle in every time I take it out...
I loosend everything up, remove the hub assembly and smack the end of the axle with a hammer... I hold onto the axle and put pressure against it while hitting the end with my other hand... (hard to explain)... it usually takes me a few good hard whacks to get it in there, but it works...

Did you eve get it figured out? I can't get my damned pax side axle in either. The tranny side won't go in either. What the hell am I doing wrong? I made sure I got the 26 spline axle too.
Does the open end of the transmission snap ring on the driveshaft have to be facing a certain direction, like up or down? I know on some cars, it matters.
What I do is get the axle in the transmission as far as it will go then put the other end through the hub and tighten up the axle nut. Then I will sit down, put both feet on both sides of the rotor while putting my hands behind me to keep me from falling back. then just give a really good shove with my legs a couple of times and it usualy goes in. and if all else fails, get a bigger hammer.
