Well, I heard a big *** boom under my hood down the track Friday night, but I still drove the bitch home anyway. It was barely able to keep a idle and it had no get up at all. I get up this morning and check the plugs and I always like to go backwards cause usually #3 or #4 go bad. #4 fine, #3 fine, #2 fine, #1 The entire porcelin has decintegrated and the plug is like ripped in half. I replaced the plugs and tried to start the car again and it still runs like poo poo. Terrible idle. I'm pretty sure I chipped at least 1 valve, maybe more. My friend is coming with his compression tester tomorrow, so we'll see how the compression is across the board. Now, some of you may think "He didn't blow the motor" Well, it depends what you consider blowing the motor is. My idea is chipping or bending valves, holes in the block, etc... The worst part is I prepaid for an Autocross session tomorrow and I now I can't go.

 

are you sure it wasnt a backfire? i had a pretty bad one that took out my t-body..

Drink a couple 40's... Take off your NAAWWSS and take it in for warranty work..

Back when I had a 91' AWD Talon TSi, I detonated 2 spark plugs where there was no porcelin left on the plugs too, 19lbs of boost on stock turbo and fuel.. Luckily replacing the plugs fixed it.. Good luck.

 

My friend had a backfire as well, but it set his air filter on fire, at least I had no fire.

I hope everything is working out okay. Thats a shame to hear, and i bet the repairs are expensive.

What did you do wrong with the nitrous? How long were you running the nitrous? How many shot, and what type of system? Single-fogger dry or direct port?

bent valves? over-reved? or just ka-boom and gone during racing?

I think normal compression is 240. I've never misshifted or powershifting. I'm running a single fogger NOS 70 shot wet kit. It just went boom during 2nd gear (maybe that explains the poo pooy times. ) I'll keep you all posted. This is me

 

marc you probably toasted your rings!!! that's what happened to mine....i drove on mine for the last 2 months....compression was 50-60-180-185 (B16a).....soooooo.....finally put a new motor in last night!! i love torque!!!

 

DAmn Mark you got all the luck man. That explains your low mph. What do you mean by running rough? You either toasted the rings. or burned a valve(s) Hope you got money for a rebuild. NOt sure if dealer is gonna cover it.

Well, we'll figure it out soon. I just hope I can get it home! My buddy said to take the NOS kit off and go the dealer and just say "I was driving at like 7000 and got on it when I heard a noise under the hood and now the car doesn't run right!! FIX IT!"

what kind of naawwwwws kit are you running? i think i have read that you have a NOS brand system but is it a wet kit or dry?

 

Make sure u change ur oil if u do this, the dealership will know right away u were using nitrous if u have the same oil u were squeezing on in there.
