Default Type-R NOS users

I have a Direct Port 80 shot. My tuner told me he was gonna retard my timing as far as he could on my MSD digital 6 ignition. I think its like 6 degrees. I thought that sounded like too much, because i heard timing should go back 2 degrees per 50 hp. With an 80 shot, shouldn't i just need to retard 3-4? Are we talking about drastic differences in performance?

Thanks,
Jon

Ask RealTypeR on the board. He has a 70 shot on his ITR.

I think you should get rid of your NOS. The very foundation of your cars existence was meant for natural aspiration!

6 degrees!! Yeah right, that's too much, that'll make your car run like crap all motor. 3-4 would be adequate.

...as a former NOS user... set your base timing back to 15 degrees... make sure your fuel under the spray is rich enough, and spray away keeping a close eye on your plugs... if you can drive at all, should be good for mid to low 13's on under-inflated street tires... I highly recomend a MSD rpm window switch at the least, to safe gaurd when the NOS comes on and off... I used 5700 and 8100rpm pills...
