Default Correct me if I am wrong

So today I went down to the local import junkyard to pick up a Si tranny for my Dx. The guy's down there tried there hardest to convince me that a Vx tranny is the same as an Si. I refused to buy it and in the end I got what I wanted. A Si 5 spd. from a 94 coupe with only 155K and for $300 CDN. So am I wrong or is the Vx geared differently than the Si? Also for the swap the guy said that the Si is for a 1.6L and will not fit on my 1.5L DX engine. And that the clutch is a different size. Is he right? Not to concered about the clutch because I am getting a new one. Is the clutch and flywheel not the same for all D series engines and tranny? This guy has me totally confused now .

Oh, is there a type of gasket that goes between the tranny and engine? I know, I know, newb question.

wow good thing u didnt listen to him that guy is a dumb **** and needs to be shot. the vx is the worst tranny for a d series, it has the longest gears. the si/ex is the best because it has the shortest gears. it will fit on your engine and it will feel a tad bit quicker cause the gear ratio. all clutches are the same for 92-00 d series and there is no gasket that u need

DONT KNOW HOW MUCH 300 IS FOR U BUT I THINK U GOT RIPPED OFF BIG TIME, CAN ANYONE CONVERT IT TO US$

YUP U PAID WAY TOO MUCH FOR A TRANNY WITH THAT MANY MILES. I GOT MY Y8 TRANNY WITH 80K MILES IN PERFECT CONDITION FOR $40

It has only 155K not miles and it is in perfect condition. $300 CDN for this is very reasonable. I am getting axels with it as well, so your 250 US would come out easily over 300 CDN.

You got a Y8 for 40 bucks! Damn that is a good deal. I think exchange rate is like 80 cents to the dollar. So 300 CDN is like 230 US

it was canadian, it was at the corner of dixie and britiannia, by the toronto airport
toronto has way too many japaneese engine dealers and you can get stuff for real cheap

Yeah...250 bills for a 155k mile tranny ain't exactly a 'deal'.

You can pick up Y8 trannys, with 50-100k miles, for like 150. And 6th gen trannys fit 5th gen blocks too.

This post is not about the price, just the tranny! Just wanted to know if this guy was way off and wether it will fit and what not.

It will fit, and it's the best tranny you could have gotten for your motor.

You can reuse your clucth if it's still good, but I'd recommend replacing it if you're gonna go through all the work anyways.

92-00 D series Clucthes and flywheels are all interchangeable.
