water pump issue
ok when replacing my water pump on the bottom left bolt (10mm) when I went to remove it the friggin thing broke off. Yes the bolt broke and I know left lossey righty tighty I was using a socket and I am not that stupid to go the wrong way. Well I can't get the end out. So I have all the other bolts in and torqued correctly but instead for the bottom right hand bolt since there is a hole all the way through that little lip there I drilled out a hole and used a 1/4 bolt and put a nut on the other side. I also used a lot of gasket sealant on the water pump and mating surface. The only thing I can think of to get that bolt out is to pull the motor and drill and tap it cause I can't get to it while it is in the motor. Do you guys think my ghetto fix job will work? it still has four bolts holding it in. and one is a lot tighter than a stock bolt would have been. please tell me if I should run it like this or am I just bieng retarded and lazy. thanx
Maybe it holds waterpump enough good. But the 5th screw would be better, ofcourse.
Hmm. I dont think you've got so much options removing it. Only way i figure is that you lift the engine up, and drill a hole to broken screw. And heat it up with torch. But, i know. That's hell of a job for a tiny screw broken in. Btw, i changed my waterpump today.
But hey, everyone knows what happens if you drop a valve- cover 6mm nut to camshaft belt area. :D havent happen to me yet, but i'm sure that is going to happen.

I know I should pull the motor and do it right but it just seems like so much work for something that shouldn't have broken....I am gonna get my mini-me done this weekend and get it all put back together and see if it leaks....maybe I am good maybe not...
