running fuel cell, removing stock fuel tank....aerodynamics down the toilet?
as some ofyou may know, im building my weekend plaything, 89 CRX race car. I bought a 1 gallon RCI fuel cell and am removing my stock fuel tank.
My question is ..... should i fabricate some sort of underbody panel to replace the gas tank so i have a smooth surface for aerodynamics? If not, i imagine the rear crossmember would provide a hefty amount of drag being that it sticks straight down in to the air stream...
what have you others done that have removed stock fuel tank?
btw im not building my car for any certain class, it is basically going to be a test and tune beast with the occasional open bracket entry or grudge heads up, so no worries in that department.

Just screw in a big piece of sheetmetal on the bottom and it direct the air away just like the tank.
not a very good pic, but this is a picture of my 90 hb race car. i haven't decided what to do about the situation as of yet.

i've thought about putting some kind of sheet metal under there, but i'd be worried about high speed stability. time for a good ole' HT brain storming session
