The HF blocks supposedly have 10.x:1 compression... i'm not sure how much of that has to do with the pistons, and how much to do with the head.

I've heard slugs from an older d-series teg engine are a popular swap. Not sure about compression ratios, but someone here is bound to know.

HF pistons only have 2 valve reliefs- since it is an 8 valve engine.

Not a single HF piston i've seen has had 2 valve releifs. All have had four, like normal.

so it makes sense that the hf uses the same pistions as the si/dx and the head gives it the higher compression ratio....

Could be right. I'll have to take a look at the hf head i have at my house.

you could be right about the pistons- I am not 100% sure- but- the HF head may have a smaller combustion chamber because the 2 valves that are missing are filled in and possibly displace more volume than the valves they replace- just a thought. I'll look into the pistons.

im not sure if they would fit due to the 8 valve engine but d16a1 pistons have a higher dome to them. im not sure the differences in the actual d15b2 block compared to the rest of the d series blocks but if its the same bore they should drop in (course i dont know if the pin height is higher/lower on the hx pistons/rods). they have 4 valve pockets but a machine shop can bridge the two pockets on each side so you basically have 1 pocket on each side when you're done. if u did that you'd prolly be >11:1 compression.

The HF pistons do have 2 valve releifs- my friend's HF block is that way.

using a 1.6L piston in a 1.5L motor will drop the compression.
3mm difference piston height.

1.6L pistons are 1/8" shorter, that is ALOT when it comes to compression numbers.

Add a .250" headgasket inplace of current one (.040), then tell me how badly the car motor sucks.

so the best solution is to buy srp 11:1 piston and put on my block.

If you put a1 pistons in a a6 block you achieve a 10.8 c/r.. Not to sure what the c/r of a b2 with a1 pistons will be.. probably not to much more then stock b2. A1 pistons have very large domes. The CC of the ZC/a1 head is alot larger then the dx/si head, that is where the c/r is gained at.

To me it sounds like alot of work for nothing.. unless you got all this stuff laying around, or got it for dirt cheap.

I must say I do like the short stroke of the B2 at times... But I have seen bigger cranks in motorcycles..
