Default JDM 4-1 header vs Megan 4-1 Header

I have been trying to buy a JDM Type R Header for a couple of days locally. With no luck for the money I want to spend I was wondering if and of you Guru's know if the Megan racing header with the 2.5 inch collector which can be had for 150 is as good? Anybody dynoed that header? Yes I know you get what you pay for but I am making very good power with a HP LS header on my GSR motor right now and it only has a 2" collector and is 4-2-1. ( I don't plan on spending 400-700 on a header, I am going to eventually have to buy turbo stuff to keep up with the production cars being built now)

i just got a megan racing 4-1 for my b16 and am very pleased for what i paid for. however, my collector is not 2.5" it is only the 2". i dunno if they make two different 4-1's or if whoever you are buying from is pulling your leg. the overall quality and fitment is good, but they did not include the bracket to mount it to the back of the block.

i own the megan racing 2.5 4-1 and i will tell you this .... if you want a header that will be great for about a month or two , buy it and start looking for a real header , my header has broken at the merge 3 times and i have welded it back to gether every time , for it just to break in a diff, spot , ... the flange from the head is huge which would make yo think that the guage steel used is pretty thick ... however .... the guage steel used for the tubing is paper thin and if you even bump it or scrape it lightly , it will bend or crack .... please understand , this may just be the header i recieved but i have owned many a header and have never had a header break, not to mention three times in three diff spots .... all within the same 6 months of ownership... my opinion , save your 150 bucks and invest is somthing that is tested and proven .... anr , toda , jdm, even dc ..... it's not worth the 150 spent if you ask me

Its not just yours, I too have owned many headers (SOHC Stillen, DC, Arospeed Ractive ) But anyway, I had my second O2 bung installed at the merge and when he cut the hole I also noticed to myself that the tubing is definately paper thin, maybe 2 sheets of paper, but they do look good. It will only be on my car until I get my JDM ITR on there. Other than the thinness, I have no complaints cosmeticly, I have not started the motor yet so I have no idea how it performs

I don't know what it weighs but I e-mailed the guy and he said he has han no problems with the header. But that and 35 cents will buy you a phone call. I am a little scared off by lsed-eg and am now looking for a JDM ITR 4-1

I just looked at the UPS tag on my box and it says 16lbs wihich also includes the box and UPS usually rounds up too. I would guess about 13lbs for the header. It is WAY lighter than my old cast iron jdm b16 manifold.

For a straight up weekend racer... damn...13lbs would be light as hell.
