Alpine 9835 HU question (Bio-lite display problems)
I have the Alpine head unit, and I am curious... is there any known problems with the bio-lite display? The reason why I ask is because I bought it in November of 2004 brand new, well.. just in the last couple days the display starts to mess up... like totally shut off as I am adjusting the volume or whatever. The music still plays, so I dunno. The head unit itself is in great shape... I dont abuse it or anything. Is there any other head units I might try out perhaps? It doesnt have to be alpine by any means. Thanks a bunch... Zach
you are able to turn off the display by pressing and holding the "disp" button for 3 seconds. that turns off the display and it only comes back on when you push a button on the deck or the remote. not sure if that applies to you but its good to know.
if thats not the case, call alpine tech support. good guys over there.

Zach</TD></TR></TABLE>It can be any number of things, a common problem on removable face HUs is the contacts get dirty, this happens a lot with people that don't remove the faceplate a lot, they are self cleaning, when removed and reinstalled, so the first thing I would do is take some contact cleaner to the contacts, [faceplate to the HU] if that doesn't work, then you will have to send it in for repair, all Alpine HU come with a 1 year parts and labour warranty, just take it back to where you had it installed, if you did the install yourself then remove it, [the whole HU] and take it back where you got it or you can take it to the auth. Alpine warranty depot, you canget that info where you got the unit or go to http://www.alpine.com and find out who is the local warranty depot
