Rattle Can Painting
alright Ive searched for hours on this already......
Im GOING TO paint my car flat black...
(for all of u who are like "go paint it properly".. its not worth it.. it has so much little surface rust, that I just want temporarily GONE.. u know, sand sand sand untill it should be good for a rust-primer)
NOWWW
my question is..
Im going to use a rattle can
What paint/primer do I use.. BUT many many people were saying that it will hold in moisture, increasing the rusting..
well **** i dont want that to happen
SO what kind of rattle can am i going to look for????
Im going to sand and sand the rust on the car, primer the spots ive sanded, then properly sand down the rest of the car ....... then wash it...
Now flat black paint.. WHAT PAINT!!! HEEELPPP!! I DONT WANT MOOORREE RUST!!!

If you are really set ont he flat black look and dont want to spend alot, just use sealer. You will still have to spray with a gun but it will not absorb moisture, gives you the flat black look, its easy to spray and doesnt cost alot.
Good luck.
Good luck.
dont use primer.
it WILL absorb water and eventually lead to:
1> paint chipping off
2> rust
on my car i used Krylon Semi-Flat spray paint, and i was somehow fortunate that the paint didnt come out with all the paint strokes showing.
a member on here (speedinghatch) used Rustoleum Flat Black. He thinned it out (with acetone or mineral spirits) and shot it with a spray gun. it comes out a lot more even than a spray can will ever. this is also done by hot-rodders.
good luck and post pics when you're done.
btw, try to treat it as a REAL paint job. by this i mean, remove all the lights, mirrors, moldings, etc. and tape everything CORRECTLY.

you can use rustoleum if you want.
i used Krylon Semi-Flat......
i didnt wetsand my car, i dunno how it would look either.
usually it is done to gloss paint and then buffed/polished/etc.
i dont know how that would work with a flat paint job.
