Question for all you Speedvision Fanatics!
Ok, so AT&T Digital Cable was just installed in my house, but unfortunately the installer was not from my area and therefore he didn't have any of the TV guides for it, to tell me what shows were on at what times.. One of the main reasons I got cable, was for Speedvision. My question is: When are the Type R races on and such? I hear you guys talking about them all the time, when can I see some R's race! (My Speedvision channel is 408 if that helps at all.)
speed vision (speed TV or whatever they are gonna be calling it) will soon no longer carry those type of races anymore. They are turing into a NASCAR channel in the next few weeks I believe. However I have hear that they might show those races on that channel during off peak times or on another new channel.
awww poo poo... It figures the minute I get the channel, they change the programming.

Unfortuneately most Speedvision races now consist of mostly one thing: NASCAR.
I miss watching the Realtime R's race too. I also miss ALMS (American Le Mans.) Speedvision sucks these days.

I think they will be showing some of the good stuff still - but who knows when. I am sure they will still broadcast the World Challenge races in which the ITRs run. If you watch tonight it looks like there is some British Touring cars on...

Similarly...
They'll be showing some of the 24 hrs of Daytona live, and even though they'll probably focus on the "prototype" cars, there will be other "sports cars" as well ... next weekend Feb. 2/3. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=119385

ive been saying this all along. The new Speedvision will not be a dedicated NASCAR channel. God forbid they remove some of the filler programing, like the infomercials and add NASCAR!!!! Last time I checked, its still a race series. I dont like F1, you dont hear me complaining about it on Speedvision. It is what it is. When you have enough money to run a TV station you can put what you want on it.
FYI if they take off the WRC, F1, or whatever, its because its not making money. These people are not working to please you. They are in it to make money. They want to please the MAJORITY of the public. And if NASCAR is going to make money and F1 isnt, then its a smart business decision to take NASCAR over F1.

OK, good news. Here's the answer directly from the Speedvision World Challenge website ( http://www.speedvisionwc.com/news/02press02.html )
(January 11, 2002) —The SCCA Pro Racing World Challenge Championships get a new name beginning in 2002 following Speedvision’s change over to SPEED Channel February 4. The series will now be known as the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge.
Additionally, the SPEED World Challenge has confirmed its television package for 2002, with each individual race being broadcast on SPEED Channel in an hour-long format, tentatively scheduled for Saturday or Sunday evenings, beginning at 8:00 p.m. (Eastern). The full television schedule will be released when available.

The new SPEED Channel still has the contracts to F1, WRC, AMA Motorcycle Racing, and World Challenge. Also, I just found out last week that the France family owns the Grand Am Series. Yes, the same France family of NASCAR. Because of this, every Grand Am race is being televised on SPEED Channel as well. This includes the Grand Am Cup races too I believe. However, this means that you will not see any Le Mans Series on SPEED Channel.
If speedvision takes F1 and the WRC off the programming, then I will definently cancel their channel. Because stock cars that only turn left on a track besides LS, and SP is a waste of my important time.

This includes the Grand Am Cup races too I believe. However, this means that you will not see any Le Mans Series on SPEED Channel.
Luckily, there will be a few ALMS races on SPEED Channel after all. Here is their schedule:
> March 16 -- Sebring (Fla.) International Raceway; 12 hours, SPEED Channel.
> April 7 -- Miami Downtown Street Circuit, 2 hours 45 minutes; CBS Sports.
> May 19 -- Sears Point Raceway, Sonoma, Calif.; 2 hours 45 minutes, SPEED Channel.
> June 30 -- Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Lexington, Ohio; 2 hours 45 minutes; SPEED Channel.
> July 7 -- Road America, Elkhart Lake, Wis.; 500 miles; CBS Sports.
> July 21 -- RFK Stadium Circuit, Washington, D.C.; 2 hours 45 minutes, NBC Sports.
> Aug. 3 -- Le Circuit Trois-Rivieres, Trois-Rivieres, Quebec; 3 hours, SPEED Channel.
> Aug. 18 -- Mosport International Raceway, Bowmanville, Ontario; 2 hours 45 minutes, NBC Sports.
> Sept. 22 -- Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Monterey, Calif.; 2 hours 45 minutes, NBC Sports.
> Oct. 12 -- Road Atlanta, Braselton, Ga.; 1,000 miles or 10 hours; SPEED Channel.
I'm very happy that it won't be "all NASCAR" after all.

Jon
