ok i have an 88 crx i had a vss problem it just so happens that i swap my dash for a 91 dash, and changed my cluster but i still have the vss problem! i thought that the sensor is in the cluster isnt it??

 

check your vss cable...

 

hmm didnt think of that, but yes it plugged in correctly on both ends... how can i tell if it defective?

 

Its probably broken in the middle. Try pulling it completely out.

 

take it out and spin it on one end and see if the other end moves.....

 

oh it does spin it only thows a code when i downshift to a low gear at high rpms or if i stay in gear going downhill etc.. but regardless it always spins but it thows a code

 

i have the same problem.. it takes a while for the cel to come on, but my speedometer works that's the strange thing..

 

it wouldn't be a faulty cluster if the gauge still works right? possibly wiring?

 

i have the same problem....when you first start your car...the cel doesnt come on but after a while on high rpms.....or downhill.....or stay in gear too long the cel pops on....anyone know if they are still hitting vtec??? or anyone know how to fix this???
