gas lens= big thumbsup
i have just started recently using the gas lens and it is the best. i can crank up the heat now and still get the good color. tell me what u guys think.

i will try to explain it briefly. engloid will prolly tell u better. it actually has a screen inside the nozzle itself that dispurses the argon over a wider area of the surface that is being welded. that is my summary of how it works. could be wrong though.

Not much more to say...it just helps cover the weld and heat affected zone better.
Welds look pretty good...if you walk the cup, the butt welds would look much better.

Nice welds. how do you get that nice gold color? Is it just because you are welding stainless? Or can you get that color on any meterial?
it's a method of rolling the cup back and forth in a zig zag pattern while making a weld. When done properly, it really helps stability and consistency...as well as speed. When you know how to do it, it's much easier to do than a freehand weld.

thanks, and what amperage were you at?

that was done at around 90 or so. good penetration. the manifold that i did before that one, i walked the cup. it did look much better.
im still new to welding and im about to do my first manifold. i dont have scrap metal to practice fillet welds so...
whats was the procedure you took on welding the pipe to the flange? amperage, filler size, etc.
thanks.

i do use filler on the first pass. 3/32 on both passes. i'll post pics of the manifold that i am about to ship out for a customer. wait until firday or so, i have to finish his whole setup first. i laid down some pretty fat welds kind of like lovefab.
