What do you mean dead?
Does it have compression when you turn it over?

Causes: piston rings took a ****, burnt valve, warped valve, other things involving valves, possible blown head gasket.

when the car is on, i pull the spark plug wires off of each cylinder. 1-3 cylinders hesitates when i pull them off. but the 4th cylinder stays the same.

how do i check if the piston rings are gone? my compression looks normal.

If the compression in the "dead" cylinder is approximately the same as the other three (when properly checked with a compression gauge) then your problem is probably fuel or spark related, make sure you are getting enough of both.

yeha, i'm getting the same compression as the other cylinders. if it was dead, should i still get compression?

replace your spark plug wires. or swap the wire from the dead cyl to another and see if that cyl does it. if so than its the wires. if it stays on 4 than its probably the distributor

found out it's either a bad ECU or bad hondata.

its a bad ecu, cyl no 4 went dead on me a few weeks ago and i tore the hair out of my head trying to figure it out, car had good spark, good compression but wasnt getting fuel, i swaped out my fuel injectors and it still wasnt getting fuel so i knew it was something with the wiring to the #4 injector, after a week or so screwing around with it, i decided to just bend over and bring it to the dealer, after $276.00 and 7 hours of diagnosing it and tearing apart my harness they told me they were not 100% sure it was the ecu but were pretty sure that was it. the next day i found a p72, plugged it in and my car is back alive, strange that the same thing happened to u and the same cyl too.

weird. i'm guessing it's the way my ECU was socketed. it was working before i got it socketed for hondata. but can that **** up my ECU?

i got it working. turned out to be the ECU. got it socketed and it's running on all 4 cylinders.

i didn't know the ECU can cause a dead cylinder.
