well to start off....have you ever done a motor swap before? Not a mini me...but a complete... old one out...new one in? If you haven't done that by yourself....don't try this. So you are gonna take about.....a year...year and a half just saving up? (thats how long it would take me...paying for rent and cell....food...electric bills...gas to and from work. blah blah.) 7 k is a lot to dump. why dont you just go put you a nice turbo setup together and slap it on. way less $$$... less pain and frustration then trying to get a rwd drv. trn. in a fwd car. unless you just build straight up race cars ever day.....I think you might be needing a hand. Read on the RWD teg...and the AWD one they made....it was a lot of bs. and im sure the times wernt much different (from a fwd, same motor..la la la). sell your keep saving for the 5-7 k.....go to a subaru dealer when you have 7 k ....trade in your teg....get a nice wrx with a blasting 300 hp awd....no pain....maybe a little finance work....and you buddy....can be sitting in a awesome 'drift' car.

I'm 20, and I can design and build a full off-road race chassis, right down to custom cut gears, and suspension geometry. No classes, no teachers, no bullshit, I learned by watching it and doing it. How old do you have to be to apply skills you've learned?

Actually, it's been done at least twice, probably more, with a single engine in the rear and empty front. I've seen one with an H22, and one with a B18C5. I've also seen one that was duel engines, but it never saw a street from what I remember.

Good for you....but for the amount off people that come on here saying there gonna do this or go put an S2k engine in their hatchback etc 99.999999% are full of BS... so be thankful that you can do all that work and are part of that.0000001 percentile. Also if he had all those skills that you speak of I would think he would have to ask us about it.

Those 99.99999% could join the other .000001%, if they'd just quit talking about it and do the damn thing.

And you're right, if he had the skills, he wouldn't be asking about it. But you got to start by asking. No one is born with knowledge, you have to ask and earn it.

EDIT: Heh, interesting side 'fact' you probably don't care about, I've found an Auburn in every state except 5.

I'm gonna laugh at you guys when in 3 years this kid posts with a RWD b16 del sol

"In any given circumstance you think you have a limit and then you go for this limit and you touch this limit and you think ok this is the limit the sooner you touch this limit something happens and you can suddenly go a little further... with your mind power, your determination, and expierence as well. you can fly very high."

yeah, cody built the h22 RWD del sol.

my brother and i have a nissan maxima powered 90 civic hatch. FWD vg30 in the rear of the civic.

its not running yet, but its framed up and the engine is in, axles in, tranny in, wheels on. suspension in

needs wiring, fuel, and coolant to run-and a couple weeks of working on it at night.......which we dont have right now. hoping to finish it by mid/late spring. will be NA at first, twin turbo by august (if we care to work on it that much)

I say start out with a 84-87 crx or civic... dime a dozen easy to find cheaper parts than other civics and hey its different... there are a couple 84-87 rwd's on http://www.redpepperracing.com good/knowlagable ppl there
besides its what I wish i coulda done with my 3g hatch :-/

I say go for a Northstar V8 lol same price as a good B series still lots of options and comes with 300+hp :-D you can use a fiero 5spd tranny or porche even more options if u think about it. with the stock northstar trans you can keep that traction controll

You still have to learn alot more, being that your in HS and being in the top of your class doesn't mean that you have this ability to complete a project like that. but if you do, you will need more than luck

I say do a front engine rear wheel drive. You will have to greatly improve the frame work at the back of the car to get it to work because it is designed to haul groceries and such, not a 450lbs engine and a lot of abuse. It will also keep the car balanced better weight wise by having the engine up front. Also by doing a mid engine you will want to seal off the cabbin from the engine so the dangerous co2 doesnt kill you at the first stoplight you get to.

mid engine rear wheel drive will be alot easier to do. aside from the strenghtening that has to be done all else needed is to pretty much bring the engine, tranny and axels and stuff to the back of the car, what kinds of hubs can i use? will ones from a MR2 fit on the back?
