Default how high can it go

i was just wondering how high you can rev on a stock b16 block without it becoming to dangerous, Right now i take mine to 8700 , and just want to make sure thats a reasonable amount for the stock block.

8700 is really at the upper limits of the stock valvetrain.

I currently take my stock bottom end B17 to 9000 rpm every time I drive it, the valvetrain is only springs and retainers with Skunk2, stage 2 cams. (Weekend driver). EG

Used to take my old JDM B16A to 9200 rpms with stock cams, dual valve springs and titanium retainers.. (along with 11 lbs of boost). Bottom end was total seal rings, and JE 9.5 to 1 forged pistons. (Daily driver and different car). EF

My old JDM H22a would go to 8500 rpms with a completely stock drivetrain, all day long, (daily driver, but a completely different car). EK

Hope it helps.

Ive reved mine as far as 8800 on stock valvetrain no problems yet...I wouldnt recommend it though...the only reason my car has been reved that hard is because its an ef with 350 horse on street tires...but when we tuned the car we stopped the pulls at 8500 no problem

Yeah Mr.slagg....(chad) told me he used to rev a stock B16 to 9900 from time to time....and didnt drop a valve...I know that some old B16's came with dual valve springs though...so he may of ended up with a good engine....I dont have good luck with **** staying together or I would rev mine that hard...

9000 is way too high for being a stock block

You have a lot of mods, do you not rev to 9000 rpm?
