Valve noises
After a while of speculating what the rythmetic ticking could be, I've come to the conclusion that my valves are whats making the noise. I can hear them most when I let off the gas at lower speeds. I can also make out the sound of a more vigorous ticking as I'm accelerating. Any ideas as what I should do about this, and how much it might cost me to fix it?
sounds like you need a valve lash adjustment. get a haynes or chiltons manual for you car and it will give you directions on how to go about it yourself, its very easy, the only tools you'll need besides a socket set are a set of feeler gauges. as far as getting one done im not positive but i believe i've heard anywhere from the 60+dollars for one, not sure though. but like i said, id reccommend that you do it yourself due to the simplicity of the task..

i have the same problem too, i asked my auto shop[ teacher wut he thot of it, he said for a car as old as mine(95 with 88K miles) its really common, and though it can be fixed, there wudnt be any perforamnce benefits, but the sound still makes me and my dad un easy, so we got a haynes book and plan on fixing it sometime, though its been weeks and we cant seem to get our lazy asses to do it
I have the same problem with my car. I went by a local mod shop and right away he told me that the ticking was because by valves needed to be adjusted, $125 to adjust them. honda didn't make hydraulic adjusters so they recommend 15-30k before you need an adjustment. it also depends on if whether they are highway miles or around town miles.

You need a new shop teacher. Even though slight valve adjustments may not make a noticable change in performance it will certainly give your engine longer life and improve your milage.

i use regular, but plan on switching to sythetic(mobil 1) on next oil change...we're all pretty positive, if not complete sure, that it needs a valve adjustment, but im guessing if u switch to syn the noise myte go down a lil cuz i have heard of engine noise decreasing when people switch to synthetic

I went and got my valves adjusted at the dealership for $116. However I noticed the noise was still there this morning when I went for a drive. Any suggestions on what I should do next? My father and I thought for sure it was the valves.
Maybe its just the injectors like alotawatts said.
