Default new rods? necessary?

whats up guys? i finally got the $ saved up to do a bit of a rebuild on my gsr and try to gain a few hp in the process. im gonna go with itr cams/ ctr valve springs/itr pistons with new rings and wrist pins and itr rods. now my question is are the rods really necessary? i have a good bit of milage on the motor (170k). i would rather just get them now rather than replace later. now dont get my wrong my gsr pulls as hard as it did many a mile ago but i like to be safe than sorry espcially since im getting new cams and such. i can get a used set of rods for 100 bucks so i know its not gonna break me but im just curious maybe i can save a little bit. thanks

Just have your GSR rods reconditioned with new rod bolts etc...

kinda depends how high you want to rev the motor...
with ITR cams your peak power isn't really goint to be much above 7800 rpm in which case your sotck rods will be fine - maybe just new rod bolts (ARP).

the itr rods are still lighter and stronger.
and they shouldn't be too expensive.

IMO i would rather spend a lil extra money for the itr rods.

Stock short block GSR motor hold 300+ whp on turbo motors. I don't think they will break in a 200whp all motor application. Upgrade to some ARP rod bolts and you will good to go.
