Hi im working on my 90 Civic DX and am having some problems with the fuel pump.The pump is currently not working so i dropped the tank and pulled it thinking it was shot and replaced it with a wrecker one.The second pump also no go so i bench tested the original pump and with 12.75 volts from a battery it fires up working great.I check my wiring coming down to the tank into the pump and only 10.5-10.9 volts at the wires which connect to the pump assembly on top of the tank.I checked voltage at various places in the car fuse box etc and have 12.75 or damm close to it.Does anybody know why i would be getting a voltage drop like that?Also i thought the pump would run at 10.5-11 volts but it will not fire on without full 12 volts or better.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

1 or 2 of those wires from the fuel pump go to the main relay.

Try re-sodering the connections in the main relay (they are known for aging and creating bad connections) or try a new one.

 

I think ill try that tommorow.The main relay is beside the fuse panel i belive?The wiring goin back to the fuel pump is pretty tiny im tempted to run some new wire back to the pump and be done with it.Thanks
