Q about mugen shift knob
Awhile back I bought a mugen shift **** for 1990 CRX Si with Skunk2 short shifter. This may be a trivial point to some but I figured I would at least see if this has happened to anyone else. When I first put the **** on the mugen logo faced the passenger side door. This was at with the **** twisted as tight as it would go. Since then I haven't thought of it much but I have noticed that if I twist as hard as I can the **** will rotate another millimeter or so. I would idealy like the logo to face straight to the back of the car. Actually on my old CRX also with skunk2 shifter I had the same **** but didn't encounter this problem. Is there anything I can do?
keep twisting until you strip it....
i haven't run into that problem....you sure you shiftlinkage is in the right direction...i kn ow that sounds stupid...but sometimes they kinda rotate or after a swap they are backwards(especially if you don't remember which way the bend in the shifter went)....that's the only think i can think of..

you could take it all the way off, then try to re install it a few times to see if the direction of the logo changes at all.
if it varies then you just have to find the right starting point, if not then you could keep twisting it until its where you want it, but as stated above beware of stripping.

The **** screws down WAY below where a nut on the shifter could go even at lowest setting.

I've tried this a million times no-go. I've been told that I could use lock-tite or whatever it's called on the shifter. Takers? <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by 2nxcrx »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">I can take a picture of mine if you'd like.</TD></TR></TABLE>

i have this "issue" with my "mugen" shift **** as well. it's a $25 dollar **** from ebay. i've had two of them before and both times the logo angles towards the passenger side door.
Ok I'm leaning more towards this using lock-tite idea. I guess one of the guys on the aRgh forum did this. Question though....if I need to take the **** off how difficult would that be with the lock-tite? again, takers on the idea of lock-tite?
BTW- for those encountering the same problem as me I was instructed to put some llock-tite on the shifter and screw the mugen **** on as tight as possible while the logo faces where you want it to go.

Yeah but the thing is that the threads on the **** do NOT start at the bottom of the ****. The threading is half-way into the ****. If you try to screw the mugen **** on and leave some thread visible on the shifter there is about 1&1/2 threads useable. If you put a nut on it I'm sure the **** would just snap off.
