yeah hmo is in LA but i just wanted to know what else is around though, where some swap shops are that could do the swap.
im getting a motor swap because the one i have is blown, i obviously can't drive around and look for a shop. and im located 3 hours from LA so thats why im asking cause thats where im going to go to get it done. now does anybody else have some info for me instead of stupid a$$ comments.
i suggest u get a manual, some friends and diy. it sems difficult but it is very easy. my friend got quoted 1100 from shop. i had never done it before and our other friend had so we all did his swap instead. its a great learning experience and it is a piece of cake after u do it and it can be fun too like when someone is under the car and someone is working in the engine bay and u drop a tool on their head
what about the axles though? yeah i think i could do it in a coule of days over the weekend or something but i heard that those axles are a big pain.
i had to take out my axles when i did my tranny swap, they arent hard at all. you could do it in 2 days, 1 to take it out and 1 to put it in
i have had like 7 friends that have and i will be in the summer. they said they deliver fast and the motors are clean
ok sounds good, but what about smog tests? i have to do one once i get it running again so i can get it registered.
u have to go to a state ref and have it bar'd before u can pass smog legally and get it resistered. make sure everything is hooked up and everything is good before u go. its only like $37
they do a visual inspection, if the guys a dick he try and match every single thing thats in the book and most likely fail u and then they put it on a dyno at 15 mph and 20 mph and i guess see what emission number it puts out and it u pass u get a bar sticker. there are some threads about passing the ref in the FAQ at the top
