I'm picking up another set of 15" slipstreams this week with hopes of stripping the black paint off and high speed polishing them.
Has anyone here on H-T done this before?
Any Pics?
I'm also looking for any pics of an EK/EM1 w/ polished slips mounted.
Post Em' up and help a brother out.
Thanks in advance
-Jeff

Yeah, I know him from Tamparacing.com, and he's the one I got the idea from in the first place.
I have a pretty good idea of how to strip and polish them, but I wanted to know how much of a bitch it was.
I'm down for a project, But if it's going to take hundreds of hours and tons of cash, I'm going to think twice.
Anymore pics?
Has anyone put polished slips on a EBP Si before?.................That's what I want to mount them on.

easy stuff!
i actually took a really easy way of doing it. very incomplete, i never really got around to finishing. i just stripped all the paint with aircraft stripper. get about 5-6 cans because it's a bitch if you want to get ALLL the black from inbetween spokes, and the back etc.
after that, they actually have a NICE shine with just that alone. that's basically all i did.. i threw some polish on but thats about it. if you want to do it right just do the sandpaper thing through the highest grit and polish the hell out of it, that would be much better than what i did.
hope that helped

if they have the same offset as a 240 check out zilvia.net they are having a group buy on custom slips. i think they are gettin them with a +20 offset.

Thanks for the tips Mark, How much did you spend on paint stripper alone?
Do you have any up close pics of the slips you just stripped?
Thanks for all your help.

That's exactially what I'm doing, I found a set with minor paint scratches and no tires for dirt *** cheap, I couldn't pass up the deal and I've idleized MarkzeroNine's GS-R with DIY polished slips since December of '04.
Props to you Mark
