new wheels/tires on ninety four accord.
okay i really need some help with this. yesterday, (the 25th,) i put some RSS heisei wheels (17X7 in. ) with Wanli low pro. tires onto my 94 accord ex. when i drive now, the wheels make a loud kind of "click click click" noise when i go above about 10 mph, and under that its more of a squeaky noise. they sound like they're loose, or like something is wrong with them, but i took it to a tire store today and the guy torqued them to spec, and got them on right and everything, and said nothing was wrong. but when i drive, they still make that noise
. i'm worried its hurting my car, and i really need to be able to drive.
can any of you tell me what could be causing this?
ps i got them from a guy who had them on a 93 civic sedan (my car is a four door too) and the lug pattern seems to fit perfectly.
thanks a lot for the help folks.

The reason Mike is asking this is that you need to use lugnuts whose seating area (that's the part of the lugnut that comes into contact with the surface of the wheel) has the same shape as the surface of the wheel is. Honda/Acura stock wheels and stock lug nuts use a ball (spherical) shaped seating area. Most aftermarket wheels have a conical/tapered seating area, and (if you haven't already done so) you need to get lug nuts that do, too, to attach them securely. This is shown in the diagram below.
If you're already using the proper shaped lug nuts, one other thing I can think of that would make a squeaking and/or clicking noise are the brake pads, particularly if they are worn (squeaking) and/or aftermarket pads that shift slightly in the caliper (clicking). Why would you only be hearing them with the new wheels? Maybe if the new wheels have a more open design, they might make these noises easier to hear.

i have a feeling it may be unrelated to the wheels... maybe your cv joints have gone bad? check the cv boots for tears. do you still have your old wheels? if so, toss those on and see if the problem is still there.

Yes, I agree. Try putting the old ones back on, and CAREFULLY listening to see if you hear the same noises. The amount of effort involved is minimal. (If you don't have a floor jack and a torque wrench, ask a friend who does mechanical stuff if he has one. Buy him a pizza and try swapping your wheels/tires back and forth, to see if the noise is there with both sets.)

Should i not be using tapered lugs? on stock wheels?</TD></TR></TABLE>
No, you should not.
When you use tapered lugs on stock wheels, instead of coming into contact with the wheel across the entire seating area, they are only in contact in a circle. Not only does this mean less contact area (zero "area", technically), but it also creates the possibility that the edge where they are in contact will wear down, and the wheel will come loose.
Use stock lug nuts (or aftermarket lug nuts made for Honda/Acura cars) with the spherical seating surface. If you don't still have yours, buy a set. They're around $2 per lug at a parts store like Autozone, a bit more at a dealership. (I don't know but they might be less if you're buying a whole set.)

You would have to check with those companies. I know Gorilla makes some tuner type lug nuts with acorn seating surfaces.

Then you've been lucky. Of course, these things aren't totally predictable. For example, suppose there's a 10 percent chance that your wheels come loose using lug nuts that don't match your wheels, and a 90 percent chance you won't have problems. But you can spend $40 or less to make that a 100 percent chance. Isn't it worth it?

ok so i found out what happened.
i was retarded and got 12mm x 1.25 lugs instead of 12 x 1.5
totally stripped 7 wheel studs, $420 in repairs and i had to sell the wheels to get money to fix my car all over a set of 20 dollar lug nuts
my life is so depressing
haha
