Jdm d15b vtec?
I just picked a d15b vtec motor and was wondering if I can use all the parts of my A6 motor?Like Distributor, adjustable cam gear,Header,Intake manifold etc. Also can I run the Vtec using my Pm6 and a Vafc?
yes. some of them you can use like the cam gear header and intake. the dist. you can use but will have to modify it to mount proper. the ecu will not activate the vtec. search d15b swap and you 'll get a better understanding of what it entails.
Yeah, Mr. Carpenter answered it all pretty well... Pretty much everything from your A6 WILL bolt up, since they are both D-series motors.
If you are short on cash, they will all work however it would be a lot better if you replaced them.
For the distributor, you have to hold it on using only 2 of the bolts w/ large fender washers and you will probably have to hack them as well to rotate it enough to get the right ignition timing.
With your adjustable cam gear, it will work, but I am not sure if the settings will be the same.... you'd have to look into that one a little bit more or hopefully someone else will let you know about it here.
Header - will work, not the best flowing, but hey it's up to you.
,Intake manifold - same thing, might wanna replace it down the road. You can't use as many bigger throttle bodies with this mani either.
And yes you can get VTEC to work with a PM6 and a VAFC...
But trust me, everyone who has had a SOHC VTEC and converted to OBD1 will tell you it is MUCH better using the computer that was meant for the motor.
I used to use my HF distributor (same as A6) and a PS9 and it was nowhere near as powerful as it is now. Plus it is really hard to get the fuel/ign maps right unless you get it tuned.
Hope that helps.. have fun with your D15B, I know I am.
