"whoops i messed up that title.. read on.
i recently bought a 2" aluminum radiator and a slim fan. i wired the fan up correctly and i haven't heard it kick on yet and ive had the car running for at least 45 minutes..give or take. my temp gauge reads the same as it did when i had the OEM rad and fan in the car. now i was wondering if i thicker radiator would require as much from a fan than say a OEM? does any of this sound right? thanxx for your help.

So i'm assuming you've just let the car sit and waited for the fan to come on? You could try to take it for a little "spirited" driving and just keep a close eye on the temp gauge. As long as it's not overheating I wouldn't worry too much.

He has the right idea. Just sitting there and ideling will not make the engine reach above normal operating temp. in most cases. Warm it up, drive around for ten minutes (push it a little bit in between), come home and let idel. Then check to see if it comes on.

I have the same situation with my slimline. I have an H22 in my EG, and the Toyo rad is huge. The fan hasn't been kicking on lately but it never gets hotter than halfway, so I assume when summer rolls around here in PA, it'll need to kick on again.
