Track Times (First Try with the B)
I took the car to the track yesterday to try it out for the first time since installing the new motor
Specs:
- 1996 Civic HX
- JDM B18C (GSR) I/H/E and Clutch
- Car Weights 2350lbs without me in it (2510lbs with)
- 17" ADR Wheels with 205/40's @ 25Psi
- Stock OBD II P72 ECU
First Run:
- 2.52sec 60ft, (car bogged down)
- 15.6s 1/4 Mile Time
- 91 mph
Second Run:
- 2.47sec 60ft (Major Wheelhop)
- 15.3s 1/4 Mile Time
- 92.6 mph
Third Run (Last)
- 2.355sec 60ft (Feathered the clutch, lost traction at 5k rpms)
- 15.01 1/4 Mile Time
- 93.2 mph
Just wanted to share my experience with you guys. I was satisfied for this being my first night out there, and it was 80F and humid as hell.
What times do you guys think the car has in it with better driving??? BTW I was shifting at 8k rpms.

Nah, the car is coral red, and I went to the west palm beach, moroso motorsports park.

You should be able to get those times with a B18B swap. Remember this was my first time at the track and I only got three runs. I'm sure with some practice and better tires I should see mid to low 14's.
Not bad for your first time.
The 17s are not really your problem, the low profile tires are not helping you.
try this the next time you go:
When you line up at the line, make sure your tires are in the center of two black strips on the track. That is where most of the rubber is at.
Do not worry about reaction times, you are not racing the person next to you, you are racing yourself.
Preload the clutch by holding the clutch just before the fraction zone (the spot where is just starting to engage the clutch).
Feather the clutch, it will take practice.

Moroso sucks sometimes. Line up in the dial-in next time, you will get more runs and the track will hold better (dial-in goes after Pro cars go).

Thats not bad, my first time a ran a 15.2 and once i got practice i got it down to a 14.6. I had a 95 dx coupe with jdm gsr, i/h/e and nitto nt 450's. if the tires didnt suck so bad i could have pulled lower b/c i spun through 1st and 2nd gear
Pretty good first time out numbers!
I have to disagree with Turbogixxer (just on this part, everything else he said was correct!) and will say those 17's are hurting your time. Depending on the weight of the wheel/tire combo your probably losing a good bit of power. Considering the torque Honda motors make isnt hardly enough to get you off the line in the first place (thats more or less a joke) much less trying to deal with all that extra rotating mass.
Try borrowing a set of lightweight 15's from a friend and then you shall understand.

Well, in 60' time, I am speaking. The problem is more of driving/tire then rim.
But, a lighter rim (less rotating mass) will always yield better times with the same factors (besides the rims).

Damnit I hate how people compare their times to someone else's time. When they have a totally different setup. Its just stupid and their are numerous people who do it. Ditch the 17's man and put back on your steelies and try it out again.
