Just Bought Myself a '86 Crx 16-16 (UK Spec).
Vital stats:
Honda Mk1 CRX 1986
1.6-16v DOHC (130hp)
Kerb weight 820kg
Power to weigh 160hp/ton
86,000 miles
All orignal, no mods, 1 lady owner.
Insurance cost = £621 Fully Comp, classic insured.

I couldn't resist travelling 300 miles to pick this one up when I stumbled across her, a wonderful white MK1 CRX 1.6-16v in excellent condition, the interior is shockingly good for 20 years old!
I've always wanted a retro car, I love retro 80's cars and the MK1 CRX definately falls into that category, theres a handful in the country and probably 10 (if that?) in this kind of condition, I've never seen one thats for sure. I was going for an AE86 but after some delivberation wanted something even rarer and even more niche... and Honda.
The drive home was interesting, few bushes need replacing but apart from that I was suprised how well it went, because its so light I think it would quite easily keep up with a VTI. The brakes have about a foot of pedal travel  but still work really well, the drive impressed me.
As soon as I got her home I stripped out the rear to check for rust and damp and thankfully there isn't much at all. This car is my summer project, I'm going to throw several thousand at her to make her good as new;
Step 1) Mechnical renewal, engine flush, fluids, filters, belts, tappets etc etc. Suspension overhaul, more then likely going with some jap semi-race coilovers and an uprated pannard, break renewal and clean up etc.
Step 2) Full intetrior strip. All plastics will be steam cleaned back to 'new' if they don't come up well they will be replaced, electrics overhaul if needed. Prep work for rust proofing.
Step 3) Rust proofing, cutting all rust out, welding plates in, cleaning the whole car from top to bottom including underneath and rust proofing all under car. Then after the car is perfect and full respray in champ white (or the original white). Replacement of every screw with even a hint of rust or tarnish.
Step 4) After the full respray I'll be looking to renew the cosmetics of the car, all new bump strips, plastics, seals etc etc (still available through Honda!). This with the respray will complete the car back to 'new' form.
Time scale = 4 months.
As you can probably tell I'm rather excited about the car so I'll shut-up now and post some, small, pictures. :D
Ignore the alloys, 20 years of age = no laquer and need overhaul

Sexy pillar-less doors. 8-)

Immaculate seats.. amazing for 20 years.

Needs a clean though, I've stripped the rear hunting for rust!

Dull photo, sorry, needs stock spolier (Honda still stock it!).
