Default Why not just a S-AFC?

I'm fairly new to honda's, but I have jumped in head first. I come from the nissan family, so please bear with the dumb questions.

I bought an intega gsr, and have torn the b18c1 down due to the low compression pistons that were in it. I am in the process of rebuilding it with USDM ITR pistons. Everything else on the motor will remain stock, except for the eagle rods. It has a stock gsr head. The computer that came with the car is a JDM P73. I am planning on running a stock head gasket. BTW - this is a race only car (road racing). It will never see the streets.

I keep seeing everyone reccomend a P28 chipped, but my question is why? Why would I run some program that someone created in their basement? Why wouldn't I just buy a S-AFC and go to get the car tuned with it? Am I missing something here? I dont want to go with uberdata, or hondata just yet, as I am in the beginning stages of the learning curve, and just need a car to race right now. Should I stick with the P73?

Correct me if I'm wrong!

Have you used the compression cal. The USDM ITR pistons wont up the compression that much...

Maybe your going for reliability.

well as far as the s-afc you could use it but you can get more out of a v-afc since it will also control the vtec and when it will engage while it still gives you the fuel control.

I'm road racing in a class that only allows so much compression. Believe me, if I could get the compression up to 11:1 or 11.5:1, I would be all over it.

Excellent, that is probably what I will use.

Back to the original question, is the P73 one of my best (and easiest) options? Or should I go for another ECU. I'm guessing I should stick with the P73 for ease and reliability.

for what a apexi v-afc or s-afc costs u can get a chiped ecu and use hondata, crome, ghettodyne etc to do tuning....much better way to spend your money....plus you have way more controll over the engine...and u can setup full throttle launch and full throttle shift....something v-afc or s-afc cant do....u can also adjust timing maps with chiped ecu.....chiped ecu
