those are all cable b series trannies

a1= 90-91 ls trannie small spline

s1 and j1= jdm b16 short geared cable b16 trannies 4.4 final drive graeing like the usdm itr and hydry b16's also is small spline used 90-91 clutch

y1 = no good. jdm long geared b16 trannie. came off jdm b16 crx. also is small spline. 4.2 final drive graeing is slightly longer and bigger than hydro gsr trannies and way longer than regular b16 trannies but still much shorted that ls trannies.

ys1 = any 92-93 hydro trannie. you cant tell if its a ls trannie/ b17 gsr trannie or jdm b16 trannie. this used the big spline clutch 92-01 clutch.

all of the above trannies has optional lsd from japan except for the a1 cuz its a ls trannie

YS1 are cable, your post seems to indicate they are not in the definition.

So A1 is the longest geared tranny? and S1 is the shortest? Also Ys1 isnt hydro its still cable just used hydro big spline clutch. Also a Y1 isnt ok for a Vtec motor?

s1 came in USDM 90-91 tegs(long gear) AND jdm b16 engines(shortgear)>

y1 is jdm b16 and itll be fine on vtec engines>
it isnt as short as jdm s1/ or ys1 gsr/jdm b16 ones tho

BTW, LSD trannies have LSD printed on them, but that writing quickly comes off. look through the differential. if you can see through it, it's a limited slip unit. if you can't see through it, it's an open diff.

do not get a y1 b16 trannie
i have one and the gears are not close to as short as the s1/j1/ itr trannies
the gears are even longer than hydro gsr trannies
it falls between a hydro gsr and a ls trannie

example
itr / b16 trannie 80 mph 5th gear = 4.2k
hydro gsr 80 mph =4k
ls = 3.5k
y1 trannie = 3.8k

ls hydro tranny at 80mph w/ stock tires is 3728rpm. a y1 from an SiR would be doing 4543rpm at 80mph.
