Default crx cupholder...

Well, Ive gotten really tired of having to stick my drinks between the seat and the e-brake garnish, so I made a little project out of it. I took a gsr center console I have laying around, and pulled the cupholder peice out of it. I then cut a hole in my radio console just big enough to slide the cupholder tray in, measured it up, and turned some screws into it. Man, it fits pretty much perfectly, and I still have room for my CDs to sit. The only thing is that it kinda blocks the radio controls when there is a cup in there, but hey, thats what remotes are for right? Any one have any ideas on how to get the arm rest from a 94+ gsr to work in a crx? I can put it in there, but it really looks out of place because of the way it ligns up with the shifter console.

there was some dude a while back...that took a cup holder out of nissan sentra...and i guess it fits with minor mods to the bracket behind the center console.....It was fucken awesome...the only thing is...if you drive stick there's no way you could hold it and not smash the cups....when you downshift

OK, to update this... dont do it the way I have it, if you mount it flush with the radio bezel, it wont come out far enough to be useful. i cant even fit a medium frosty cup in there becuase it hits the face of my cd player. Im gonna work on it some more to try to find a better way to mount it.

so your cupholder for now looks good but is not very functional? Cuz Ive seen a lot of cars put it in the same spot, just wondering how well it actually works.

Thats pretty much correct. It wont be a problem to pull it out a little bit, but it wont sit flush like it is.

Yeah, that does look pretty awesome. I just thought it would be nice to be able to keep the ashtray, which is where I keep my change because the damn coin try flops open if you have alot in there and you punch the gas. The cig lighter is nice to have too when you need to charge your phone or something. i may steal that other guys idea though. Not I need a new radio bezel

hey stealth, search for "EK armrest" you can find them everywhere, and with a little trimming they line up perfectly.

the only issue is the EK either never came with black interior or its rare, so i used some vynal coat to make it black.

finally put mine together today. here's the results first.

here my little nighttime surprise... i used the former ashtray light and installed it into the cubby hole. much more useful there. (the orange lighting is just an outside lamp)

so heres how i did it. VERY KLUDGY!!! but i didnt want to make any permanent mount yet. just enough to get it mounted and test it out. ill make a more solid connection sometime but it works for now and is fairly solid, believe it or not. yes, thats a stuffed toilet paper roll....

so the final verdict is i like it and glad i did it. its not perfect however. my knee does kinda hit the corner when its open. and it doesnt fit 20oz plastic soda bottles, unfortunately. but you can see itll fit anything else reasonable.
