Default 97 ecu no a 96?

dumb question but i dont know for sure, will a 97 base ecu run a 96 vtec with no problems? are all the sensors the same and i dont know witch year started the obd2 ver. 2 was it 97? thanks.

No the 97 base ecu has immobilzer in it and will not run a 96 lude. Unless you buy pass the imoblizer.
