engine build-up q's
I'm gonna be running a d16a6 block with a z6 head. with such high compression(10.4 to 1 supposably) i wanna build up the bottem end a little bit for nitrous(about a 75 shot maybe 100) with just some new rods and forged pistons. i can get eagle rods for 300. are these ok rods and is that a good price. i have no idea where to get pistons and what good prices are, so any help would be appreciated. remember that i dont the BEST stuff. just good stuff for the money. i understand you get what you pay for. also is a 88-89 teg ecu ok to use for the higher rev limit??? thanks.
oh and if your going to say "just do a engine swap" DON'T!!!!!
I am building a d series for the purpose of BUILDING A D SERIES!

mad props for building a d series..these little engines are actually pretty damn good...as far as eagle rods, i would use them, any aftermarket rods are going to be just fine for what you are looking to do with them (a 75 shot of NOS really isn't a whole lot in the whole scheme of things) so just look for the best deal on aftermarket rods and they will hold up just fine for what you want to do with them...as far as pistons go, i would take the same advice, shop around and see what is out there...reliability issues shouldn't concern you that much with any of the aftermarket rods or pistons out there for your application (it is not like you are shooting for 400 hp)...if you wanted to do a little budget build..i know for sure that integra ls rods can be made to fit into d16z6 blocks, not sure about d16a6 blocks but those rods are good up about 225 hp or so comfortably and then there is always a b series throttle body that can be bolted on (those can be had for $50-75) and one last suggestion for you, definately try and get a obd0-obd1 conversion harness so that you can use a 92-95 sohc vtec (p28) ecu with that setup..it will definately let the engine run 100 times better

WOW. Some of you people amaze me.
First off, they're ARIAS pistons. Summit Racing carries them for imports.
I'd strongly suggest to go ahead and get some eagle rods <$300 is a GREAT price> and a set of JE, Ross, Arias, or Wiseco pistons. Wiseco being the most expensive of the bunch. I'd buy new pistons. I got screwed on a set of JE's that had gotten hot and gone oval. No way to bore an oval cylinder, y'see?
Parts trader is great for bolt ons, but internals, I'd buy new, personally.

ok well with a built bottem end with about 11 to 1 comp on a 100 shot. i will need a metal head gasket right? and you have to O ring your head right???

No.
Run a stock headgasket. I'd rather blow a headgasket than a piston or valve, how about you?
it should hold up fine with 11:1 and 100 shot as long as it's TUNED.
