ok. i went to the u-pull-it junkyard today, and picked up the aluminum spindles/hubs/brakes. the spindles themselves are much lighter than the chromoly hub housing that i have. the bolt pattern on them seems to be a 5x 4.5. also the hub wont accept a 31 spline axle. what kinda hubs are people using? i will take a few pics and get them up in a bit.

Minh, I'm pretty sure Gary wasn't running Extreme on his car like you, Kenny, Scott, etc., etc. but I could be wrong...
Gary's car did not have the Extreme struts. It appears to be very similar to Pontiac Grand-Am spindles. Those pictures of a front hub/ bearing assembly look an awful lot like s-10 4x4 front hubs.
The front spindle on my car is from a '98 Pontiac Grand Prix. However, that is only part of the puzzle... it still requires a custom hub assembly to be made for it, so that you can make it work with your axles. Also, it requres the use of a short front strut, like the setup there from Strange Engineering. Also, it needs a custom bracket to go between the strut and the spindle.
The front brake/hub setup that i am using is from Mark Williams. I designed and made the strut-to-spindle bracket i am using. Mark Williams already has the setup figured out, and it is practically a 'shelf part' from them... they still have to make it when you order, but they know how to configure the whole setup.
I'll snap some current pics of my setup tomorrow when i have my camera

i just wanted to thank you for the bit of help you've given me over the phone
Truly a nice guy. i cant wait to meet you and see the car in person. i need to take a few lessons off of you.
ps. the project formula gheenoe is awsome.
just spent the last hour or so reading all about it. nice write up

Hey, no problem man... it was good talking to you
Good luck with your setup... been waiting for a long time to see it go.. lol
You still have the hatch chassis, right?
Yea, that Gheenoe project was a really fun one... hehe. Thanks for taking the time to read about it. A few little tweeks, and that thing'll boogy big time.. hehe. Nothin finer than an 80hp(ish) Jet Ski powered Canoe to start off the morning

the hatch i still have, i really want to run it, but i honestly dont have money for it.(wanna buy it?)
the coupe is most likely gonna be running by Englishtown, if all goes well.
i was amazed after i had spoken with you on the tele. your word choice/sentences/kindness and everything..had an answer for everything.. i was truely amazed. you sir are way too smart, and you know what u are after.
(reason why i need some lessons from you)
the gheenoe was a great writeup, everyone should read. the k&n prolly gave it a few more hp
(the final picture was awsome)

Hey Dave... thanks man... i'm just tryin to help out when and where i can. If you ever need to talk or ask any questions, just give me a call. I'll be glad to help. I can't wait to se that coupe run... sucks that your hatch doesn't look like it'll get run... that thing is beautiful. Hopefully it'll wind up in a good home
By the way, that final pic in the Gheenoe was at like less than 1/4 throttle, with it already planing out, and probably going about 20-25.... not bad for using barely any throttle... hehe. I can't wait to open it up all the way
Here are the pics of my hub assembly from Mark Williams... For those of you looking into this suspension setup, keep in mind that it isn't cheap necessarily... but its a lot less expensive than that 'extreme fab' setup, and you wind up with a much better setup in the end (IMO anyway). If anyone is serious about doing this setup, contact either Tony1, or i'll be willing to help you get set up with it as well. There is custom fab work that has to be done though... lower control arm and the spindle-to-strut mount are custom pieces.
One alternative to this setup would be to use an OEM upright, and have the top of it milled so that it will accept a bracket like what is on the bottom of the strut pictured here... that is what Tony did with the Sindicate all motor car... it looks like it'd also be a pretty nice setup for those who do not want to go the route of spending a lot of $$$ on the Mark Williams stuff, but still want to convert to this type of suspension and use the original axles instead of the MW axle setup....

those are some really nice suspension pieces
do you have any shots of the pieces all apart? brake calipers?
from what i can see, it looks like the "center" section of a weld wheel that is bolted onto your hub? is this correct?
thanks John. that car is gonna be a killer beast.

Dave, i don't have pics of the calipers, and my camera is gone for pretty much the rest of the day... lol. But they are 4 piston calipers made by Mark Williams.. I'm not sure if they are made by someone else and then sold as MWs though, but they have the MW logo cast on the side of them.
That wheel is the center section to the set of custom wheels i had made by a company called 'HoleShot Racing Wheels' here in central florida. Really really nice wheels.
I'm not wanting to hijack this guys thread much, LoL... but the car should be nice... i'm just hoping that it'll be fairly competitive. i'm not going to hype it up and say it'll be running 7's or anything, nor will i start calling cars out or anything.. LoL. i'm just going to go out there and see what it'll do. If it can run sorta with the GM cars, then cool... but it'll probably be a while before that ever happens... i'm going after consistancy, not trying to break records (and parts) on the first pass
Gotta go 10's before 9's, and 9's before 8's... and so on.

There is an article on Gary at UrbanRacer.com. Its a question answer type article with photos. Very interesting.

the stock hub assembly of the grand prix is actually the same spline as the dss stage 6 axles... hence eliminating the need to go with the mark williams setup... theres still stuff that has to be made but its also another option...
