can't get timing belt on. PLEASE HELP
I can't get my timing belt back on. I have loosened the tension pulley thing but i still can't get it to go on. Please help me out. Thanks guys
one thing i found useful is to make sure that the timing belt is on correctly on the 2 cam gears. then put a zip tie around the cam gear on each to keep the timing belt on.. that way, you don't have to worry bout the belt slipping on the cam gear when you try to slip it over other things. Give that a try.
Dam fool, you think we know what the problem is.
You cant get it on because it physically to small or something? You cant get it on because you dont have the knowledge? You need a helper?
There is a trick so to say. Remove one cam gear, probably exhaust, fit the belt up, then slide the cam gear back into place and whala.

You must push the tensioner pulley back away from the belt and snug the bolt up to get enough slack to put the belt on... you shouldn't have to remove any cam gears... Then re-loosen the tensioner bolt to allow it to tension the belt again once you have it on AND in correct timing....

Yup, and if you have a problem getting the cams to stay still, there's a hole through them that will line up with a hole in the head, and you can use a punch to put through it to hold them still. I should have taken a picture during my belt change, and I could show you x-actly what I mean. I don't recall having to remove cam gears.
Just as a side, if you haven't already, It's commonly a good idea to replace the water pump while you're in there, just for some cheap preventative maintenance.
