Default installed intake on stock dx motor- need some help

my friend bought an intake for his stock hatch, the j's replica. i didnt think it would really work. we had to leave the stock air box on. i've never heard of leaving on the stock air box but we had to. we took out the filter and hooked up the intake onto the air box. we left all of the stock rubber tubes connecting the air box to the oil. and plugged up the hole on the intake. not sure if we did it right. any suggestions? by the way its an ek. is there a better way to install this?

yeah the throttle body points up instead of the to the side like we're all used to. no pics we did it earlier tonight. we had to leave the air box on without the filter. not sure if we installed it correctly

That intake isnt made for that motor (d16y7). Its for the d16y8 or above with the side port throttle body.

tell him to get the y8 manifold. Worth the upgrade probably, or at least you can use the intake right
