The 6th gens trannies are pretty damn weak, hell a lot of them have been replaced under normal driving conditions.

If you boost it reinforce the tranny, if you don't reinforce it get prepared to replace your tranny.

You may want to think about a tranny cooler and a tranny temp gauge. But if you touch that engine be prepared for honda to say no to your extended tranny warranty.

You obviously don't know how prone to failure the accord tranny's are. I would say that if you are experiencing any slippage at all on your automatic then It would not be the best idea to boost your motor. ALso I assume you are planning on getting the comptech supercharger for your method of boost considering that no one else makes anything for the j series. SO I would say get the trans. cooler and keep the trans. fluid changed a lot to help it last.

ive done some mods on my 6th gen and want to install a Comptech supercharger..but am scared that the tranny wont hold ...

*AEM CAI
*Comptech 4-2-1 header
*Custom piping with MagnaFlow Hi-Flow cat and Hi-Flow Y pipe; dual 5Zigen Fireball exhausts
*Unorthodox Ultra SS pulley kit (crank, alternator and P.S. pulley)
*GUDE Performance
-Ported and Polished Cylinder Head
-High Compression Radius Cylinder
-Racing Valve Grind
-Ported Intake Manifold
-Ported Throttle Body
-Camshafts

...and will be installing an AEM EMS by the end of the month ...but would the car be running too rich on boost? ...the comptech supercharger is said to boost 6psi and the Unorthodox pulley is said to add 3psi ...bumpin it up to 9psi ...

Hayden makes one, B&M makes one.... you're probably looking at $150 - $200 for it.

Check the B&M website and you should find it. There is also one from comptech that is pretty much the same but you can say you have the comptech one.

your transmission should be fine, the linear increase of a supercharger is going to be much nicer to your trans than the very fast spool of a turbo.

my question to you is how do you plan to run your auto transmission on the AEM EMS? It's not supported.

or you could go with a Unichip. You can order them with preinstalled programs depending on your mods, and they won't break your bank.

Youre the second guy Ive read that said he had the GUDE package. You might still be the same guy from before but I dont remember. How's the gains and have you dynoed it to get before and after hp comparisons?

If you want a tranny replacement get a Dr.Evil tranny to support the HP. Its rather pricey though but so is everything else for the AV6. Get a tranny cooler with filter and you *should* be fine. The 00-02 are said to be the weakest trannies so good luck on that.

Sidenote: I bet it was hard as hell to install that Comptech 4-2-1 header huh?

EDIT* I guess you're the same guy from before.

unichip is about $600-700 and is a great mod to do.

it really depends on your luck with your av6. i know someone with a 98 who is still on the first tranny and i know someone thats on 5th or 6th tranny.
i know someone who has a 01 av6 with the comptech supercharger pushing 12psi with unichip also.

av6 starts off with about 160hp to the wheel...after what my friend has done..all the minor bolt ons, supercharger and unichip.., hes up to 280hp to the wheel and 250 torque.
ps hes done all this for 2 yrs now and so far no problem. now hes looking a new project for auto-x. ae86 chassis with the new 2.2L s2000 engine

the tranny in the 6th gen has the reliability of your average american car with a failure rate of between 4 and 5 % easily twice what honda's previous failure rates were. The V6 tranny from the 95-97 seems to be very strong and reliable.
