exhaust fumes, smell it from inside the cabin?
i just installed my jg header, omni testpipe, and jdm axleback exhaust on my gsr.
sometimes after i punch it, when i cruise afterwards...or stop at a redlight. i smell the wonderful exhaust fumes.
do i have a leak? or is running no cat making the exhaust fumes that much stronger?

lol, your gunna notice not running a CAT. Youlle probably start to notice a litle bit of a puff coming out the exhuast too, and get all worried. But its pretty normal from what ive seen. Alot of unburnt fuel/carbon that the cat normally catches just entering the atmosphere.

You dont have a cat. Put one back on, problem solved.

Would the same apply to a high flow cat? i have a powercore street cat, and I get the same exhaust smell in the cabin. I do have a fully stripped interior at the moment. DC JDM ITR header and Apexi N1 exhaust.
EVOL I run a J's racing test pipe in mine and I have no leaking issues at all. From what I know that Omni test pipe is a slip fit right? I think it might seal that well....causing the leak. Good luck man

LOL when we used to be arch enemies homie..haha. good info, i forget i have a slip fit testpipe..if it's leaking from there i think the fumes are seeping up where the shifter is...cuz i have a skunk2 short shifter and the shift boot doesn't exactly "seal" around the shifter if you know what i mean..versus a stock gsr or itr shifter, where it would sit flush against the shifter and create somewhat of a seal.

recheck all your bolts - sometimes they work loose a little bit.
when i do exhaust work on my cars, i do a final check by starting the car on the lift and putting my hand near all of the flanges and welds from different angles - not enough to burn myself, but enough to feel exhaust gasses pulsing out if there's a leak.
You'd be surprised where they can leak from sometimes.
I'd bet $ that you have a leak somewhere around the end of the header or test pipe area...
I've run all kinds of test pipes and the only time you'll get a bad smell is at a stoplight when the wind is just right and blows fumes in your window. They shouldn't be leaking up into the cabin normally. Also check your header bolts at the head. If those are loose, the fumes will go in your engine bay and then through the fire wall and vents into the cabin.

i agree with Black R. i installed a hi flo cat on my teg awhile back. and at first i forgot to put on the gasket from the header to the cat/test pipe and all i smelled was fumes. recheck ur bolts and make sure u have a gasket in there.
im having the same problem with my car where after you come to stop after just cruising, you wait a sec and then a puff of smoke just hazes out for a few secs and smells awful. i have no clue what it is. possibly unburnt fuel? i got a new turbo , most likely the same size but havent been retuned yet
