getting finished on a b20 vtec and the shop that i have bought my stuff from gave me the wrong timing belt. which timing belt am i supposed to use. i am doing a b20b with a b16 head

 

u need a vtec timming belt

 

it depends what water pump u use. if u use the b20 u need the b20 belt, if u use the gsr one u need the gsr belt. the b16 ones are to short. so u cant use t hat one

 

alright. yeah we have a b16 timing belt. i even tried it with a b16 water pump and it was still too short. my local shop called racing innovations are driving me crazy

 

is it all right to use the b20 pump?

 

I thought the B18C and B20 used the same water pump...or was that oil pump?

I'd say try the old b20 belt, but it'd make much more sense to use a GSR waterpump and a GSR belt since it's made for VTEC rpm's and since a b20 should have the same deck height - it's just a bored-out b18. Definately don't use a b16.
