Default What is a reasonable price to offer for a 98 ITR with 73k miles?

Well,
I've been posting alittle in the past couple of weeks about possibly purchasing the car I have always liked to have. I believe I have found one in NC. The seller is asking $15,900 for it. I was checking the kbb and edmunds and the retail value for a ITR with that mileage is between 10,645-10,935.

I understand that since the ITR is rare and is a "specialty" car that the blue book values may be a little on the conservative side.

The seller says that the car is bone stock however he informed that it does not come with the factory rims but some rota slipstreams in flat black...which is sort of a turn off because I wanted a completely stock ITR down to the rims.

Has anyone seen this car :https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1006902

I ran a carfax on this and starting in 2002 there is no detailed information and I believe this is when the current owner obtained it.

What do you guys think is a reasonable offer for this car? Should I go for one with less mileage eventhough honda engines tend to last for a long time?

Thank you for any input!

supply and demand...

If you want the car, you gotta pay.

as for the rims... Rotas are not bad, 2.5 years with mine and not one problem

i bought my 98 with 85,000 miles on it and a rebuilt tranny for 12,500. little did i know the engine needed to be replaced, after all said and done i paid 16,500. that price is a steal, and the car is clean. i wouldnt argue or lowball at all.

I got mine with 41k for $14,000, 100% stock. The guy really gave me a good deal, though. $15,900 doesn't seem too bad. If I had to sell mine today, that's how much I'd probably ask for. Also, rota's aren't too bad at all. I had one on my last integra, and I've got nothing but good things to say about them. If you want, I'll probably be selling my OEM rims, so PM me if you're interested.

Hm...ok thank you all for your input. Anyone else have suggestions for a reasonable offer? I was thinking I'd offer 12-14k?

I was thinking around $14k or less. Anything more than that you're in a dilemma to spend just a few more thousand for an 00-01 with alot less miles. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, if he's still wanting over 15k for it after I make my offer, I'll probably opt for a newer model R.
I'm going to check it out tomorrow

Thank again for the replies.

Depends on the condition. If it is flawless inside and out, garage kept, etc it sounds like a decent deal. If not I'd probably offer a lower price or shoot for one with a touch lower miles.

Man it really is insane how good the value of our cars are though. Heck you can get EVO VIII's for less than 20g's now with barely any mileage on them.

Even used S2000's go for about the same price with equal mileage.

ITR ownz again!

Well the guy was a no show when I went to look at his R this weekend...I don't have time for people like that.....guess I'll keep looking

.RJ and Misfit...I've been checking out both of your cars. 16k is out of my price range and Misfit, I want an R that is pretty much stock as it will be my daily driver. However your price is in my price range. How much would you say it would cost to fix the damage to your car?

Thanks again guys for your replies

$15k sounds like a fair/reasonable offer, less than that and I don't think you'll get it.

when i bought my r, the dealer said they go by local value. i guess he ment by what other dealers sell them for?
because i asked how they got a value on the car, and they pretty much had no idea.

That is odd that the kbb link does not work, maybe try going here
http://kbb.com/kb/ki.dll/kw.kc...a&cpe
and then click on suggested retail value.
