Did you have any problems with detonation? I think that head/valve clearance is ok. I just ordered them and I want to know if I can tune out detonation with retarded timing. Will a VAFC be all that I need to tune the air/fuel curve.
Setup is:
OBD1 GSR
ITR intake and Exhaust cams (will purchase Jun 2 intake with tax refund:D)
ITR intake and exhaust valve springs
Skunk2 mani with 64 mm b16 TB
Ported and polished head (not milled)
CTR pistons
Skunk2 Cam gears
Crower titanium retainers
VAFC.
AEM CAI
Greddy Evo Catback
DC 4-2-1 CC header (to be sold soon in favour of a DC JDM 4-1)
8800 Redline with JDM hondaparts.com reprogrammed ECU

Anyone care to speculate on the power output of the above setup?

you might be ok with the proper ignition timing and fuel tuning.

what's the highest octane fuel in your area?

I am in Toronto, so I can use Sunoco 94. What exactly do you mean by proper ignition timing and fuel tuning? I plan on using the VAFC to tune the air/fuel curve.
How is a custom chip made? How does the chip make know what timing maps to use etc?

you will need to dyno tune the fuel curves using a wide band o2 sensor. when running really high compression you need lots of fuel at high rpm. you will probably also be needing bigger injectors. if you run lean at high rpm that causes more heat......the more heat the more chance of dentonation.

alot of people find 290- 310cc injectors work really well with hich compression engines.

with ignition timing you probably cant go more than 16-17deg. but that is also dependent on the engine. every engine will respond diffrently to ignition timing and fuel.

custom chips are made with computers and ROM burners. the guy making the chip for you has to know what mods you have and will adjust the fuel and timing on the chip for you to meet the needs of your engine. you dont want to much agressive ignition timing with high compression pistions so make sure the guy who is programming your ECU knows that.

good luck.
