help. please read
ok,.....so i was dropped on stock shocks and neuspeed race springs,i started getting this clicking sound from the right front wheel area when i would turn left on a bumpy road only SOMETIMES. i took it in,..they blamed it on my springs(come to find out later they never even took it in to look at it, they just automatically assumed that was the problem!!) i return it to stock as they requested and go in 10k miles later. they tell me that my cv boot is torn, grease leaked out and my balljoint also has slight grease around it....... Not covered by warranty, cuz i was lowered and that was the problem. They also said that the installers fuct up the balljoint ....something about "Cutting"...i am new to this stuff but...as far as i know they dont mess with the ball joints when putting springs on. am i right??????????????? i am pissed so i take it to another dealer, they never knew it was lowered so they were cool. except,...we couldnt replicate the clicking so they wont cover it till they hear it. i ask them to take a visual look. they lift it and say "everything is in perfect condition, no play in the axles and the boots are fine, except there is a little grease that came out of the ball joint boot nothing that is of concern though since it probably was from bottoming out and it just squeezed out".....hummmm so i look myself. sure enough. looks good except that little bit of grease on the ball joint boot.so the first dealer wanted me to spend 700 bucks on a new spindle and cv boot for what?????? well needless to say i dont go to them now. well i got 4k left of warranty and i am getting nervous. they said it wont be covered it gets fixed b4 warranty is up even though they got numerous reports of me visiting with the same problem. so my question is,...should i worry about my axle?? i have never once launched and i dont beat on my car. and what does the ball joint do exactly? does it have anything to do with my "clicking"? could i just replace that dust boot and call it good???? any suggestions are appreciated. thanks
Well heres my view on it...take it as you will...the first thing is the fact that you couldnt get it to replicate the noise for the dealership, so im guessing its still ok now right? (i didnt get any inclination that you were still experiencing that problem after you brought it to the dealer and they told you all was well)...in that case i wouldnt worry about it, if you cause damage to a componant of the suspension or the axles, you'll know it...and if there was permanent damage, they'd know it...so id say if its acting ok now...just breath a sigh of relief and enjoy your car.
The other thing is this...since you were discussing how this was happening while your car was lowered, perhaps it is only something happening when its lowered...and leaving it stock just eliminates the problem...what you could do maybe is bring it to a PERFORMANCE shop, explain to them the situation, i dont know enough about RSX suspension or EP suspension to diagnos anything but they would know without a doubt see what im saying?
That might be your best bet...just be like "This is the problem, this is when it was happening...what could it be?" and they'll probobly help you (if you have a shop around that aint trying to rip people off)
Good luck on that man.
