Default Need help deciding on my set-up

Please no haters, I have used to search and done some research. I have some unanswered questions for the variables I want in my car.

FURTHERMORE...
I am the proud owner of a bone stock Celestial Blue Pearl 1991 Honda Civic CRX DX (I love the nice little ring that has to it). So it has the d16a6 in it. There are a number of things I want to due to my car, but still keep it as a daily driver.

1. Mini-Me
z6 head, manifolds,ob conversian, new dizzy, p28, all the good stuff
I know all about the hp gains, but how will this affect my fuel economy?

2. Wheel based mods
I am thinking of lowering (but it doesnt look that bad with stock lift =/... ) the car, getting new wheels and tires, and putting new brakes in.
I've heard that I should stick with 15" and under for my wheels, whats the reasoning behind this (remember I want to keep this as a daily driver).
Also what are some good tires for california (we get heavy *** rain, snow, and hot asphault...what a joy)
And will I need a brake upgrade if I do the mini me and add things like new intake/exhaust?

3. Transmission
Im thinking of doing ZC since I want preformance but decent final drive since I do a fair amount of highway driving. (can anyone give me a concrete answer on what composes a ZC tranny) What are your thought?

4. Turbo
How much hp gain can I expect from this? What else will I need to do to prevent overheating? Will this heavily affect fuel econ/daily driver ability.
If I do go turbo I will definently get new brakes. Any idea on cost of a turbo set-up?

Again, please no haters. I have spent time searching HT and doing my HW on my car, but if you have time to help someone who is passionate on preseving their crx, I will be thankful.

if you lower it don't use cheap "coilover sleeves". get real coilovers, a cupkit, or a nice set of springs with aftermarket shocks

if you want to do a mini me non turbo a d16a6/d16ya would be best. a d16z6 head would be better for a turbo. if you just do an n/a mini me you shouldnt lose to much mpg only a few maybe depending on mods. intake, header and exhaust are basic mods and need to be done anyway. there are other things that can be done as well.

for tires 15 inch is the biggest you should go because they fit well and the center of gravity isnt to far to the outside so they should be ballenced well. they will give you a decent contact patch. you should look into the light weight 15s. if its over 15.0lbs its not worth it. a good tire size for 15s is p195/55r15. a zr rated tire should do well enough.

a decent brake upgrade would be the g2 da integra swap. idk much about it but i hear its ok. i think it has 10.3 inch discs. you may also want to get a bigger master cylender as the civic has a rather small one. the integra is a little bigger i think. if you want rear discs you can put on a crx si or the da integra set up.

the zc tranny has closer gear ratios then the civic si tranny but has the dx final drive. if you realyl want to get into it you should put in crx hf 5th gear and a civic si final drive. that will work pretty well i hear and i may do that myself. the zc tranny is also nice because it has equal lenght half shafts which will reduce torqe steer. if you want to stay simple the civic si tranny is a good all around d series tranny.

if you really want to run a turbo with a mini me, you may be able to get away with 12-14 psi but it would be much safer to run around 8psi. the stock d series rods are not that strong for turbo use and since they were at first part of a non vtec engine may be less strong. you could build a home made turbo kit and expect 170hp easy. i like n/a engines though. the turbo will hurt your mpg as well. you would probably still get 20 to 25mpg though. if you want to build your own turbo kit you could do it well for about $1000. if you want to just buy a kit and do it a bit easier you could pay $3000 for a greddy kit with a front mount intercooler.

hope you understand a bit better now. if you have more questions i may be able to answer them as well.

1. Mini me will be ok and the fuel economy will not suffer as long as you use the P28 ecu. Your car comes stock with the d15b2 not the d16a6 so you will need to convert to mpfi.

2. The stock brakes will be fine as long as you use some nice pads and good fluid. If you are dead set on upgrading go with a rear disc conversion and a larger master cylinder and ex front brakes.

3. I would stick with an Si transmission but if you can get a zc trans go for it. The ultimate would be a Si/ZC hybrid. Zc gears with the Si final drive.

4. Horsepower from a turbo can be upwards of 300-350 hp on a fully built and tuned sohc. Maybe even more. Yes the turbo will definitely affect dd duties and fuel economy in a negative way.
