b16,b18, or H22 swap?
i was wondering what engine i should swap into my 91 civic and was wondering which would be the best engine to do so and which one would be the easiest to juice up.
Thanks for the info

if you have the patience for the h22, get that since it has great power, but its hella heavy, a lot of stress to the front, wont be real fun to drive, more 1/4 mile style....i would definately say the b16 unless you plan on doing ls/vtec or something, i heard ls vtecs are no joke, moneys also a factor, if you doing the work yourself, good for you since you'll save some money, basically its all up to you, whether you wanna put that much work in

Stop spreading lies. Its not that much heavier, people run b16 engines with turbos on them in a crx, well your up to the weight of an h22 right there.
Anyways if you have to ask what engine is the easiest, your not gonna be able to handle putting an h22 in.
Go for the b16 and do some research first.

H22 engines are heavier, but i am not sure by how much. And as far as swapping them in, I wouldn't. You need to do some fabrication work.

As far as B series swaps, you never specified which b16 or b18 setup you would go with. Since you want it 'juiced up' I would go with a B18B or a B18A. Those are from the LS, those engines are easiest to turbo because of the low compression ratio and there is no vtec to tune, they are also the cheapest. There are other options, like the B16A/B, B18C1, and B18C5. I would stray from the B16B and B18C5 as they cost a lot of money, they are type-r engines. If you have the money go for them. If you plan on doing bolts and keeping it fairly stock, I would say go with the B16A.

As I mentioned that above, there about 60-80 pounds more then a b16, but like I said, a ton of people run turbo setups on there b16's in there crx and with a turbo on a b16 it adds to about the same weight as an h22

.......good call, they don't weight that much more.....compare it to a b18 or b20 (similiar displacement).....not a huge different......its the angle that the h22 sits in I believe (most of the time) that can affect handeling.....I think atleast...

you know i dont really care for the weight. in all reality, the power to weight ratio will even out if you do some weight reduction in the car. i like the h22. my boy ludedude00 has one and its nasty, IMO. i got a 90 hatch and lookin into swapping a h22 in it. i think the b-series motor are over done. i mean think about it, who doesnt have a b-series motor, dont get me wrong, there really aint nothin wrong with the b-series. dude go with the h22, mad power = mad fun. go with it and let me know what you decide on.....

^^^thats what happens when you put a phone on a block
if you plan to turbo go b18b, its cheaper and easier to tune
most likely the h is going to be too complicated for you.
cliff: buy b18b then turbo it
