Default h22 or ls VetC

i was planning on doing an engine swap for my 93 hatch. I narrowed it down to an ls vtec or h22. I eventually might go turbo with the h22 if i do that swap. I was just wondering which swap should i do???

Both are very time consuming and are gonna take some work to make reliable... i personally would consider looking into A different b-series swap...

If you want to boost than why not buy an LS with a GSR tranny. LS/Vtec > H22 unless you're doing an H2B and if you're building the LS/Vtec with pistons and cams it'll be cheaper and faster than an H2B if done right.

you can swap a stock h22 into a eg and be very reliable, as long as the swap is done right...i have a h22 in my coupe and its my daily!

H22

LS/VTEC over the H22...

...but why not think about the H2B?

ls-vtec over h22.. are you kidding me?...the only thing is that you going to spend some money on axles and mounts, but you'll have more torque, power outta that box and its a 2.2l dohc vtec..plus its factory reliable...

i was kidding with you, but seriously, if you want to swap something in and leave it alone and have a quick ride thats relitively reliable then yeah, H22.

if you want a B series cuz its the TRENDY thing to do, and want something, descently quick with oddles of upgrades available with the possibility of some mechanical problems if the build isnt done precisely then go LS/VTEC.

Isn't K series the TRENDY thing to do?

H series if its closed deck FTW.

Also, if you're going to do the H series and boost, please man please buy some GOOD axles, you'll thank yourself.

I'm a big fan of the LS-Vtec personally - built right and for cheaper you can put down better numbers IMO

Why not do a big nasty single cam slam.
Eagles, Vitaras and a sick turbo. Just another idea to think about.
For the price of doing any of the swaps listed you could prolly make the turbod16 happen and make some good power.
Even in stock form with a good setup, tune and traction you're lookin at high 12's in a hatch.
Just another option.

x2, this setup yields more power, but......if i had to choose i would do h22 if i was going to stay n/a, and ls non-vtec if i was going to go boost.

depends on what crowd you entertain. majority of honda owners drive them because they are economical, and dont see the need to spend $8k on a swap to be on par.

another good option if reliability and maintenance isnt a big factor.

and an H22 with bolt ons in a hatch will keep up with MOST sohc turbo setups.

wow ive just got to say you post very intelligently and cover all the bases. good man.

id go h22 because with hasport axles, mounts and the full swap its around 4k if you do it yourself. ls/vtec probably would be damn near the same price to put out the same power. and actually i know a couple people that spent 6-8k on their ls/vtecs to get them to run right with good power. and besides h22 on low boost= lots of hp and torque

I say go for an h22. I have sat in a prelude and driven one before and i tell you, the tq is awesome. I dint even have to try to slam on the gas for it to get going.. Right now im stuck with a b16 and god.... daily driven isnt AS fun because it has no tq down low. Im looking into the h2b swap rite now myself but still worry about the shaving the block part. U should think about the h2b also.

h22....... I drive one, built, in an eg chassis, i have no problems. Only thing I would rather have is a boosted h22! But boost on an unsleeved h22 isn't the best thing in the world.

1 axels will not break unless you slam the car....lower no more than 1 inch you won't have problems....
2 if you understeer friggin get some high spring rate springs....
3 traction....in the rain...haven't driven one in the rain
4 mad tq....that is what gets you going...and has more hp than a b18c5 right stock for stock!!!!!!!! and TQ
only 75 more than a b series..... people that talk crap JUSST DON"T KNOW!!!!

if i had 3k i would have one in my car!!! plain an simple!!</TD></TR></TABLE>

man, for 3k you could totally do an h2b.

h22's go for peanuts in private party classifieds.

I've seen entire longblocks go for $400.

And with h2b you don't have any axle issue, or cutting of the firewall.

IMO, h2b is cheaper and easier than regular h22 swaps. And you get better results.
